Story mirrored from Digital Spy.

“The Verve song ‘The Drugs Don’t Work’ has been determined as the saddest song ever written, according to a scientific expert.

Dr. Harry Witchell has carried out research and claimed that from a scientific perspective, the 1997 hit will bring more people to tears than any other.

The tests measured people’s heart rate, skin temperature and breathing as they listened to a number of different songs.

‘The Drugs Don’t Work’ was number one in the charts the week that Princess Diana died nine years ago.

Dr. Witchell, a physiology and music expert, carried out the study for Nokia.”
